Intro Blog Ft

Dear blog readers, Welcome back. It’s Janiah Charles again. I’m 17 years old and a high school junior in sunny South Florida. This year I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do with my life. I have had a lot of fun working with AICE Media. I had two previous projects. My first project was a thought-provoking film called “All About Me.” This short film gave a glimpse into my life and showed my growth as a filmmaker and a creative. My second project was a music video.

There’s no question that every new project makes me reevaluate my priorities and carve out time in my busy schedule. I know how important time is, so I’ve made it my mission to make the most of every second, planning every step of the process and cramming in writing as much as I can. I don’t know exactly what my next venture will involve, but I’ve a hunch that it’s going to be my best yet.

These plans may sound far-fetched, but they are closer to home than most people think. As I get ready for this endeavor, my schedule is filled with AP Psychology classes and either Comprehensive Law or Basic Law. I have two older siblings, one brother and one sister. My sister is the shining light of the family. She was accepted into FAMU to study pharmacy. Since my biological father passed away when I was very young, my mom and stepdad have been like a second parent to me. I like to think he was a great man, even though I have no memories of him. I am very proud of my mom because she has always been a very independent single woman.

More lightheartedly, I find it exciting to be able to pick up a new hobby every few months. I won't bore you with the whole list, but while I don't consider myself  an artistic prodigy, I do find solace in creative pursuits like painting and drawing. Especially in times of stress, the creative process is a welcome distraction. I have crocheted headphones and tops, another hobby that requires patience. Although sometimes I can't wait to see a project through, I admit that this impatience can be a flaw in my personality, one of the many aspects I want to explore and develop through this blog.
